Xiaomi is all set to launch a selfie-centric smartphone in India on June 7 and the phone in question will be an Amazon India exclusive. The online retail website has now started teasing Xiaomi’s upcoming phone also highlighting its selfie-taking capabilities. Although both Xiaomi and Amazon India haven’t directly named the phone, there is a high possibility that it could be the Y2, a follow-up phone to last year’s Y1. The Y2, rumour has it, maybe a re-branded S2, for the Indian market. The S2 was only recently launched by Xiaomi in China, with the company claiming it to be its best selfie phone ever.
Now This device has been listed on Amazon India website with the hashtag #FindYourSelfie, what the company has been using to tease about the phone since a couple of days.
As per the Amazon webpage, it has been revealed that the soon-to-launched device will come with a dual rear camera setup, a dedicated LED, a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Instead of bringing an all-new model, Xiaomi is expected to bring the Redmi S2 to the Indian market as the Redmi Y2. The Redmi S2 was Xiaomi’s first smartphone in the Redmi S-series and debuted in China last month.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage is priced in China at CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 10,600), while its 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,299 (around Rs. 13,700). The price tag for the Redmi Y2 in India is not yet official.
