Airtel has started to remove Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limit on its broadband plans in select circles across India. The move is aimed to take on Reliance JioGigaFiber. As of now, Bharti Airtel has removed the limit only in Some of the city and in other cities, the telco is still providing broadband plans with FUP limit on a monthly basis. All the Airtel broadband plans in Kolkata city now offers unlimited data without any limit.
While Airtel says the users will get unlimited GB of broadband data with no speed drop, there is a catch. “Unlimited plans are available in selected cities only for non-commercial usage. Commercial usage is defined as usage above 3TB/month,” the company has stated in its terms and conditions.
Airtel’s Rs 349 monthly broadband plan offers up to 8 Mbps speed, while its Rs 449 plan gives users up to 16 Mbps speed. The Rs 699 and Rs 1299 plans offer up to 40 Mbps and up to 100 Mbps speed respectively. The plans come bundled with unlimited local and STD calls as well as unlimited broadband data.
As you might be aware of, Airtel also bundles these plans with Data Rollover option, which it introduced a while back. But with the new revision, the Data Rollover facility will no more be applicable to these plans as they provide unlimited data without any FUP limit. Also, Airtel removed the bonus data offer for these plans in Hyderabad city. It will be interesting to see whether on when Airtel will make these changes to its broadband plans in other cities such as Delhi, Chennai and others.
